Why would Thomas Bloodworth do this?
Despite the major loss of buildings that London lost, the real people that were most affected by everything were the citizens. During the days of the fire, many families struggled to save their valuables along with their own lives. Many people were awakened by the smell of the smoke and ashes that surrounded the streets of London. Many people were forced to watch their houses, along with precious memories, burn down by a horrendous fire that was unstoppable due to the concerns for money. Four people died in the fire and more than 1,000 people were left on the streets with no roof over their heads. Around £8 of valuables were lost and irreplaceable. Many people were left devastated and many were outraged. They viewed the Lord Mayor as an inconsiderate man that let their homes burn down and allowed misfortune to invade their lives. They were suffering due to a selfish man's decision, and they could not help but wonder ,"Why would Thomas Bloodworth do this?"
