What did Lord Mayor Thomas Bloodworth Want? The Lord Mayor was one of the people who were involved with creating a plan to stop the fire from continuing. Since the majority of the houses were built from old wood , there was nothing to be done except for tearing the building down. When Bloodworth was consulted, he refused to tear down the buildings because he was worried about the cost of the reconstruction of the damaged city. He was worried that the fire would cost the city a lot of money, but he was unaware that the more the fire spread, the more money they would need to spend. The fire continued to spread and many people looked at Bloodworth was a greedy and selfish man, since he cared more about money then the city that was going up in flames.
